Thank you for your ongoing support of West Olympia Rotary. As President, I am proud to say that our year is off to a productive start! We launched a new public facing Facebook page that has attracted 79 followers in just a few short months. We implemented “The Square”, which has streamlined lunch payments and will save the club money over time. We surpassed our fundraising goal for Polio Plus, with 61 members donating $6,080 to the cause. We have continued to support our community with a $2,000 grant to Thurston County Boys and Girls Clubs and $5,000 to the South Puget Sound Community College Foundation. In total, our club has now distributed over $84,000 in grants to 21 different organizations in just the last four years. Our Exchange Program continues to thrive with an outbound student in Japan, and an inbound student here from Brazil. We also recently hosted a Rotary Friendship Exchange lunch with 9 Rotarians from District 9700 in Australia. Meanwhile, club members have been working very hard to sponsor our first Global Project, which is a critical community health project in rural Bolivia. In addition to all this great community work, we continue to have fun! We hosted our first club “Cruise In”, we have strong attendance at Rotary After Dark (our monthly happy hour), and we recently hosted our annual Halloween party.
So I guess the main point of my President’s message is to re-enforce that West Olympia Rotary is as alive as it has ever been. Whether you have a been a member for decades, years, months, or weeks; or even if you are simply a visitor checking out our club, we have a place for you!

Thank you for this opportunity to serve as your President.  It has been an incredible experience.
Paul Simmons,
Club President  (Rotary Year 2017-18)
