Community Service Committee

The Community Service Committee is responsible for devising and carrying out activities that will guide and assist the members in serving their community.  Functions include community service projects, local grant projects, and other community service activities identified by the Board of Directors.  The Community Service Committee Director is the chair of this committee, and works with the Charities Fund Board, the Fundraising Committee, and the Public Relations Committee on projects as appropriate.

For more information on what community service is all about, see "Community Service", under "Avenues of Service" on the About Rotary webpage and the Club Service Projects Committee Manual of Rotary International.

We are always looking for ways to serve our community through "hands on" activities or charitable contributions, and in many cases, this involves partnering with other agencies or organizations in the community.  Some examples of community service projects and activities our club has been involved with include:

  • Rotary Point at Olympia's West Bay Park
  • Westside Skateboard Park
  • Sunrise Park
  • Garfield Track Stars
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • School Playground Maps
  • Food and Clothing Drives
  • Christmas Giving Tree - Garfield School
  • Literacy Projects
  • Spaghetti Bowl - before the Olympia-Capital HS football game
  • Kid Care
  • Salvation Army Bell Ringing
  • Thurston County Family Homelessness Grant Project
